Day 59

We went to the Orchid Show 2010 at the Manila Seedling Bank Foundation in Quezon City today. It was good to see all those flowers, orchids and cacti in different award winning arrangments and landscaping. Such artworks!
Sumire had a blast posing by the different plants. Don't let her fool you here. Behind her in this photo is no huge tree but a bonsai!

Day 58

Just pick the size you need..... choose the pancit you want (bihon guisado, canton guisado and yes, even Malabon).... pick up your order... and off you go with your pancit for the party, packed in ever reliable bilaos, ready to serve, hot and delicious. Restaurants offering these pancits in bilao save the day for those who need their party pancit quick and easy.

Day 57

Okonomiyaki. Some call it Japanese pizza. Others say it is Japanese pancake. I say it is good food and I love it! I was finally able to curb my craving for it today in Kagura Restaurant in Little Tokyo, Makati.

Day 56

At almost a dollar a liter, maybe we really do need a new kind of energy source to run our wheels. Solar perhaps? Or hydro? or maybe even nuclear?

Day 55

I turned 43 today not mindful of the wrinkles and lines that I am starting to see in the mirror. For like this tree's rings and impressions on its trunk, they tell me and constantly remind me that I have come a long way and weathered my life's many seasons.

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Day 54

I renewed my driver's license today. And for the first time ever, I got the plastic right away! (but not after a two and a half hour wait...)

Monday, February 22, 2010

Day 53

When "slipping-in-the-shower-and-hitting-one's-head-because-there-is-no-rubber-matting-on-the-bathroom-floor" news on some celebrity like this is able to hit the front page of our broadsheets, I am glad I don't read newspapers anymore.

Sunday, February 21, 2010

Day 52

I was glad to see these bins in Virra Mall today. How hard can it be to throw our trash in the right one? Let us do our share. It is the least we can.

Saturday, February 20, 2010

Day 51

I love to read books. And whenever I need to replenish my stash , I go running off to Booksale where the books, though used, are in very good condition and are comparatively inexpensive... the way I believe books should be.

Friday, February 19, 2010

Day 50

Hubby and I picked up our "new" licenses at PRC today. I never liked going there. The street is so crowded, traffic is always jammed and parking is such a pain! Oh well, the things we have to put up with just to get our licenses renewed! Aaaarrrggghhhh!

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Day 49

I saw this bill in my wallet this morning. I have always wondered what that star before the serial number meant. So I did some reading online and learned that bills like these are actually reprints of banknotes that originally had errors during printing. See, even banknotes have reprints!

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Day 48

We have been having homemade sandwiches in "his" and "her" color-coded plastic bags for lunch for the past few months now. It is like having a picnic everyday!

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Day 47

Sixteen years ago today was E-day!

Day 46

Rebecca didn't like the sign she saw at the park today.

Sunday, February 14, 2010

Day 45

Happy Valentine's Day... and Happy Chinese New Year! I cooked tikoy today. We only get to enjoy this once a year. I prefer the brown variety to the white one and I like mine dipped in egg then fried to perfection.

Saturday, February 13, 2010

Day 44

There were thick gray clouds this noon and I really thought we would have a taste of some rain today. But somehow, the clouds dissipated and the day remained hot and steamy.

Friday, February 12, 2010

Day 43

Whenever the sweltering summer days get too much to bear, I find comfort in enjoying frozen delights like these. Just like I did today.

Thursday, February 11, 2010

Day 42

They meet again and probably for the last time today... And God-willing, we will have little Ghokus and little Margauxs two months from this day. Ahhh, dog love!

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Day 41

SM Hypermart is where I do my grocery shopping. I go weekly, though sometimes, I can't avoid going back for quick trips during the week for stuff that I would suddenly need. SM really has it all for me.

Tuesday, February 9, 2010

Day 40

No, they're not milking the cow nor the goat here! They are assisting the mating of our very own Margaux and Philippine Grand Champion, Ghoku, our chosen stud. They met for the first time today and the mating was a success. Seems like the two hit it off very well right away!

I hope I would have some good good news to share to everyone in about a month. In the meantime, we wait patiently and hopefully.

Day 39

To Nut or not to Nut... that is the question....

Sunday, February 7, 2010

Day 38

I have decided to keep my Palm TX PDA. I was almost convinced to go back to the old notebook type of planner because it now comes in cool and colorful designs and sizes, but I don't think switching back would be worth it. My PDA does so much more than just keep my appointments for me. Games.... Personal Files.... Bank records.... ToDo and ToBring lists... recipes... and so much more...
... and yes, I can even surf with it! I would be a total mess without my Palm.

Saturday, February 6, 2010

Day 37

I have just finished watching three of the four movies in this unique 3D movie collection we bought the other day ... Watching 3D right in your own home... with your own 3D glasses... it was fun!

Friday, February 5, 2010

Day 36

Our dear Margaux is nearing her second heat and we are now searching for the best stud in the metro. And today, we may have found her perfect match. Meet Ghoku, a Philippine Grand Champion rottweiler. We visited him today and we were awed by his beauty. His temperament, his gait, his moves, his built and bulk are truly that of a champ! I can't wait for Margaux and Ghoku to meet!

Thursday, February 4, 2010

Day 35

Some people never really outgrew their fear of that chair... that spotlight... that drill... Good thing science and modern technology, through the years, have helped make the entire dental experience less and less scary for them.

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

Day 34

A new addition to my grocery list would be Alpo canned dogfood which Margaux and Disney share. A can like lasts only for a day when given pure, so I mix it with a little dry kibble and sometimes with a little rice to make it good for, at most, 3 days. A bit heavy on the budget, I know, but, well, anything for our pets, right?

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

Day 33

a perfectly blue sky without a single wisp of cloud... motionless leafless trees that look parched and dry ... stinging heat of the sun on my skin at midday.... these are pretty surprising observations so atypical for a day in February.

Day 32

This time, I mean it. I am going on a diet starting tonight. I want to... I have to... I must! So my new motto in life... Everything in half in every meal..... for starters, just a half cup of rice tonight and every night.
